Open Question: What kind of car should I get?

I'm going into my senior year of high school. I have my license but I don't have a car since I go to boarding school and you can't have one on campus. However, my parents said they will get me one as a graduation present. I'm so excited! After I graduate I will be living out in Santa Monica, CA, working and going to college.
